The Catharijnesingel, which was filled in for years, has been restored as open water.

Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn: The Tram Stop

Station Vaartsche Rijn opened in 2016 and combines sprinter trains with tram line 22, the Uithoflijn. It is the transfer station between the train and the tram to the Science Park. Sprinter trains run to Rotterdam and 's-Hertogenbosch.

The Uithoflijn connects Utrecht Centraal via Vaartsche Rijn to the Science Park in approximately twenty minutes. On weekdays, twelve trams per hour operate on the shared route. In 2024, six million passengers used the line.

The Uithoflijn: Tram to the University
