The Homeruskwartier is the best-known part of Almere Poort. It is the largest self-build district in the Netherlands: residents bought a plot and designed their own home. This results in a streetscape unlike anywhere else in the country. Every home is different: from minimalist to extravagant, from compact to spacious.

The Europakwartier has a more urban character. The Europalaan is the central axis with shops, restaurants, and healthcare facilities on the ground floor and residences above. The Columbuskwartier and Olympiakwartier offer more standard new construction. Duin is the newest sub-district, directly on the beach and marina.

The Almeerderstrand is a five-minute bike ride away. An urban beach on the IJmeer, freely accessible. The marina borders the Duin district. Water and city seamlessly merge here.

Everything is New Construction

The housing stock in Almere Poort is entirely new construction, built from the 2000s to the present. This means: modern insulation, sustainable materials, and contemporary layouts. The mix is broad: single-family homes, apartments, townhouses, and self-build projects.

The supply of rental properties is growing with the new construction. Rental homes are being realized in the Olympiakwartier, including in the mid-range segment. Rental prices are lower than in Amsterdam but are not the cheapest in Almere: the new construction character comes with a price tag.

The district is not yet finished. Construction is underway in Europakwartier Oost, Olympiakwartier Oost, and the Kustzone. This means construction traffic and changing environments, but also that the supply will increase in the coming years.

Own Station, Twenty Minutes to Amsterdam

Almere Poort station is centrally located in the district. From here, you can reach Amsterdam in about twenty minutes by train. The connection is frequent. Almere Centrum can be reached in fifteen minutes by public transport.

The A6 is directly adjacent to the district, providing quick car accessibility towards Amsterdam and the rest of the Randstad. Bus lines run through the quarters and connect the district with the rest of Almere.

Parking is generally not a problem in most residential streets. At the beach, parking fees sometimes apply, especially during events.

Shopping Center, Schools, and Beach

The shopping center in the Olympiakwartier offers approximately 15,000 m² of shops, supermarkets, and catering establishments. The Europalaan has additional daily facilities. Primary and secondary schools are present in the district. A top sports center and swimming pool are located in the Olympiakwartier.

The cultural and catering offerings are still under development. Almere Poort is growing, and the facilities are growing with it. For a more extensive range, you can take the train to Almere Stad or Amsterdam.

The Almeerderstrand offers beach recreation, events, and a beach pavilion in the summer. Strandlab Almere Poort organizes cultural activities on and around the beach.
