The largest new-build neighborhood in Alkmaar, built in the 1980s. Large apartment complexes, its own shopping center, and ample parking. Suitable if you are looking for a practical, spacious apartment without necessarily needing to live in the center.
Vroonermeer — The Newest Neighborhood
The most recent expansion of Alkmaar, where construction is still ongoing. Modern apartments with good energy labels, often with a balcony and private parking space. The neighborhood is quiet, green, and predominantly owner-occupied homes — the rental supply is more limited, but what is available is of high quality. Huiswaard — The Overlooked Option
Between the center and Alkmaar-Noord, with a mix of social housing and owner-occupied homes from the seventies and eighties. Huiswaard scores surprisingly well among residents (8.2) and is green, child-friendly, and well-equipped.
